Shopify Payments alternative

A Shopify Payments Alternative for High-Risk Stores

Shopify Payments doesn't support every industry. If your store isn't eligible, or your Shopify Payments account was closed, Shopify lets you add a third-party payment provider instead, and a dedicated merchant account from a high-risk specialist is usually a better long-term fit.

Why it happens

Why Shopify Payments isn't available to some stores

Shopify's eligibility rules list business types that can't use Shopify Payments, including cannabis and related products, prescription drugs, tobacco, firearms and weapons, cryptocurrencies, adult products, gambling, and "pseudo pharmaceuticals" that make health claims no regulator has verified. The exact list varies by country.

Stores that aren't eligible can keep selling on Shopify by adding a third-party payment provider. Shopify charges an extra transaction fee when you use a third-party provider, and the rate depends on your Shopify plan, so include it when you compare costs.

Shopify Payments alternative FAQ

Why isn't my store eligible for Shopify Payments?

Shopify Payments has eligibility rules that exclude some business types, and those rules vary by country. Shopify can also review an account after signup if sales activity, refunds or chargebacks change. Shopify's notice to you should give the specific reason.

Can I keep my Shopify store?

Usually, yes. Shopify lets stores that aren't eligible for Shopify Payments accept cards through a third-party payment provider. Tell us about your store when you apply and we'll explain how your checkout would connect.

What do I need to apply?

Usually owner ID, business registration documents, a bank letter or voided check, and recent bank and processing statements. See the full approval checklist.

Is Zeyla affiliated with Shopify?

No. Zeyla is an independent payment processing company and is not affiliated with Shopify Inc.
